CLASSES

Students should be enrolled in classes based on their age as of September 10th unless otherwise advised by managers or instructors.

 

 

DRESS CODE 

DANCE:
Students are required to wear athletic clothing that will not restrict their range of motion (no jeans or jewelry). Leotards and tights are encouraged but not required. We prefer for students to wear long tights or leggings to prevent floor burns. We also prefer more form-fitting clothes so we can really see the dancers' technique. If you want to invest in shoes, you can get nude or pink ballet or jazz shoes but most kids just end up taking them off and dancing sock footed. Our instructors typically only wear socks too. Whatever your child is most comfortable in!

TUMBLING:
Students are required to wear athletic clothing that will not restrict their range of motion (no jeans or jewelry). Tumblers really need to be able to go barefoot in order to get the best traction on the floors. I recommend more form-fitting clothes that won't fall down when your child is upside down. Leotards are encouraged, but not required.

KARATE:
Students should wear a lightweight, white gi and white belt. (no jewelry)

TUITION

Tuition is $50 per month regardless of the number of weeks in the month. A Single class is $15. A 5-Class punch card is $60.

Tuition is due in full on the first week each month, with a 1-week grace period. If payment has not been made by the 15th, a $15 late fee will be charged to the account regardless of absence. A $35 fee will be charged for any returned checks. All tuition and fees must be paid in order for students to participate in any performances. Tuition is nonrefundable for any reason. If a class is canceled, a makeup class will be offered. If a student is stricken with a major illness or injury, tuition may be credited to the account if Syracuse Dance Company is presented with a doctor’s note. Tuition and fees will continue to be charged until Syracuse Dance Company receives an official drop notice. Classes may only be dropped at the end of a month. A tuition discount is offered to students who have committed to be a teacher’s assistant. 

 

 

COMMUNICATION

Syracuse Dance Company information and notifications will be primarily communicated via email. Some information may also be posted to syracusedancecompany.com or to the Syracuse Dance Company Facebook page. Please take time to check your email frequently and read flyers or notices posted in the studio.  

 

 

CANCELLATIONS

Notifications for any class cancellations will be sent by email with as much prior notice as possible. Makeup classes will be scheduled for any canceled classes. Classes may be canceled for any reason including but not limited to: weather/forecast, instructor sickness, instructor family emergency, instructor important family event.

BEHAVIOR/TIMELINESS 

Students may arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of their class. During this time, as well as during breaks between classes Syracuse Dance Company and the instructor are not responsible for the supervision of the student. Classes will start promptly on time. The instructor is not responsible for any instruction the child may have missed due to tardiness. Any students who are not picked up within 15 minutes after the end of the class may be charged a $15 fee.
